I was introduced to Christie through a fellow photographer, Karlie from Lush Light Photography. From our first meeting, where Christie and I talked about her wedding in Worcester Massachusetts, I was very excited to be a part of her day! Christie and EJ had a smaller, intimate ceremony at the Crompton Collective, filled with guests from around the world. It was such a pleasure documenting their special day. Here are some words from the happy couple describing the excitement of the day:

After our engagement, we challenged ourselves with this task: to plan a celebration of our relationship without losing the meaning of it in the process. Despite some bumpy patches (inevitable during remote planning), we made it to the day, and it was lovely. From the outset we had envisioned a simple setting with natural beauty, and the White Room at Crompton Collective provided just that. Given that our guests were a mix of cultures and beliefs, we wanted to create an inclusive ceremony–one that they would not only witness but also participate in. With Claire Miller’s wonderful help, we accomplished that using a guest pledge and a ring warming ritual, which were mixed in with more traditional elements. We also offered front-row seating to the kids in the form of a personalized flower garden created by meNu. The ceremony wording strongly expressed our values: our relationship was described via the symbol of a sapling, and elements of mindfulness practice were incorporated into our vows to each other.

We’re happy to say that this mindfulness continued throughout the day and allowed us to genuinely enjoy the moments we had with our friends and family. Deviations from the plan became opportunities to laugh and just wing it. Instead of being removed from the present by feelings of stress or disappointment, we were able to enjoy the present for what it was. And because so many of our loved ones had owned a piece of the day–from the music to the decor to the games–it became a celebration not only of us (the couple), but of the people whose friendship and care surrounds us.

Ethan and Rebekah’s wedding at the Wadsworth Homestead was nothing short of exceptional. It seemed like the perfect wedding from beginning to end. I asked Ethan and Rebekah to offer some thoughts on their day and here is what they had to say:

After searching through several wedding sites and pinning so many great venue options, we chose the Wadsworth Homestead as our very first visit. We immediately fell in love with the beautiful greenery, the amazing feeling of being in our own world shrouded in trees, and the classy, vintage feel of the white, elegant homestead. Though we told ourselves we should visit a couple more places to make sure we weren’t being too hasty in our decision, we knew right away that the Homestead was where we’d say, “I do”. Fast forward to the day of our wedding, it was better than anything we could have hoped or prayed for. The days leading up to the wedding were either cold or rainy, but on that Sunday, May 26, 2019, it was full of sunshine and perfectly warm weather. The staff at the homestead was nothing short of exceptional. They were professional, kind, and courteous. Their motto seemed to come straight out of Beauty and the Beast, “be our guest!”

In planning our wedding, we knew we could get carried away with all the small details, but we chose to focus our resources on the things that mattered most to us. Dream City Strings and the Swooners added a special touch to our day of celebration with their authentic, live music for our ceremony and reception. We gave our ceremony the personal touch of writing our own vows, allowing our guests to feel more a part of our love story. For our unity symbol, we chose to plant a tree together using soil from our childhood homes to signify the love that was given to us by our families. Not only did we seek to create beautiful moments, but we desired to preserve these intimate memories for a lifetime.

In early June, Lily and Jacob got to experience their dream wedding at the bride’s home “Greenwood” in Upstate New York.

Lillian Mayo and Jacob Lucas met at a gym in Utah while they pursued school and professional competitions in power lifting and bodybuilding. Lillian holds several world records in power lifting.  Her latest world record was obtained in San Diego only a month before her wedding!  Jacob is also an accomplished power lifter and bodybuilder.  He is a recent Utah State Bodybuilding Junior Champion.

The wedding day couldn’t have been more ideal. The day started out with perfect weather and a casual family brunch on the back porch. It was followed by a more formal and intimate ceremony in the front yard, which overlooks a grand 30-mile vista. In the evening they were joined by additional friends for a festive dinner reception and dance.

The bride had planned her wedding around the expected floral peak of her father’s peony garden. The abundant blossoms did not disappoint! As an additional personal touch, her wedding bouquet was gathered entirely from the garden.

Swedish elements were added to echo the bride’s Swedish heritage. A family crown was included in the ceremony, and a traditional Midsummer Pole was raised before dinner. Upon arrival, guests attached blooms (picked from the nearby meadow) to two “Love Wreaths”, that later hung from the raised pole. Lastly, an ancient Swedish Krokan cake was designed and baked by the bride’s father.

There were many personal touches present from family members; the mothers of the bride and groom shared words about the symbolism of the rings and the crown during the ceremony, and much love and friendship was expressed by both sides of the family in their dinner toasts. To top off the evening, the newlyweds danced under a stunning summer sunset, and were sent off with a sparkler tunnel and fireworks.

Our final wedding for the season brought us out to Long Island at the spectacular Bourne Mansion for Allison and Matt’s wedding. I first met Allison and Matt last year for their engagement session in Highland Park. Once they saw their pictures, they asked if I would drive a bit further for their wedding.

We love to travel for weddings, so it was an honor when the couple asked us to document their special day. This was not only a destination wedding for us, but a handful of the guests traveled as well from Oregon, Nevada, Vermont, Michigan, Tennessee, Louisiana, Virginia, Florida, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Connecticut, Illinois, New Jersey and even Australia! Both Matt and Allison agreed that having family and guests from all over the same place was one of the highlights of their day.

Navigating around a new town to various locations was essential, but not a problem. We started at Allison’s sister’s apartment for some getting ready moments with the girls. Lauren’s living room was completely packed with friends and family. The junior bridesmaids were having a great time while the bridesmaids were putting together the steamer for their dresses.

Matt on the other hand, was alone in his room at the hotel getting ready. Nick, his brother, soon joined him to help with some finishing touches to his suit. The other groomsmen were hanging in the hotel lobby trying to figure out their pocket squares and having a beer and some laughs.

After the girls were all dolled up, we made a quick stop at Allison’s parents house for a couple portraits in front of the house. Then it was off to the ceremony.

The ceremony was held at Our Lady of the Snow in Blue Point, NY. It was a smaller church, but managed to accommodate all the guests nicely. The pastor was Father Rob Ketcham who is the chaplain at the high school Allison’s father teaches at.  Allison and Matt both loved getting to know and working with him. He has a gentle, calm demeanor that was really pleasant all throughout the service.

The last stop for the wedding was the reception held at the Bourne Mansion. This place is epic! As soon as we drove up past the front gate, we were in awe of this place. This historical landmark boasts 205 acres of waterfront property and has been hosting weddings for over 125 years. The fountain out front was spectacular and we couldn’t wait to see what was inside..

After the family formals on the mansion’s back lawn, we spent some time with Allison and Matt for sunset formals overlooking the ocean. We had just enough time to get some beautiful moments before it was time to start the party inside the enormous ballroom.

Another highlight of the their day was getting to dance with everyone. For a Sunday night, this crowd did not hold back! There were people of all ages out on the dance floor. Alli and Matt’s first dance was to “It Had To Be You” by Harry Connick Jr. Allison is a dance teacher at Aquinas, so it was no surprise that she has some fancy moves, but when Matt was able to keep up, all the guests couldn’t believe their eyes. Allison kept Matt practicing before the big day, even on the night before! The second slow dance for the couple included a nice surprise as Matt’s cousin Christina sang “Make You Feel My Love” by Adele. She did a beautiful job and Matt and Allison continued on dancing into the night.

We were so fortunate to be able to make the trek out to Long Island and document Allison and Matt’s wedding. And we thank the couple for sharing their day with us. It was a great way to end our wedding season with a bang!

Adriana and Michael first met at Le Moyne College, so it was the perfect setting for their engagement session. During that photo session, I knew right away that this lively couple was going to make their wedding a day to remember filled with laughter and fun.

On the morning of their wedding at Shadow Lake Golf and Racquet Club, Adriana started her day in one of the rooms at Shadow Lake. While Michael was at the Hampton Inn in Webster, NY with his groomsmen.

Shortly after Adriana was in her dress, we found a nice quiet area off of the golf course for two first looks.

Adriana’s FIRST first look was with her father, Hank. Hank was at a loss for words when he saw his daughter for the first time and couldn’t believe how stunning she looked in her gorgeous wedding dress.

Then it was Michael’s turn to see Adriana. Michael’s face filled with love and excitement as he saw his bride. After a couple hugs and kisses, the couple posed for some family formals before the ceremony.

The time of day was just right for their ceremony with some nice back lighting and a fountain behind them for some added ambience.

Adriana and Michael’s ceremony included a “warming of the rings”. This was a sweet moment for each guest to hold the rings and make a wish, share good luck, give a blessing, and fill the rings with their love, support, and wisdom.

Then, as the couple exchanged the rings with heartfelt vows, Adriana couldn’t hold back the tears as Michael said his vows.

During the dinner hour, the light was just right for some sunset photos, so we whisked Adriana and Michael away for some jaw-dropping images at the 18th hole.

We were able to sneak away again from the reception for a couple of quick nighttime romantic portraits.

After Adriana and her father had their “formal” dance, Hank tossed his suit coat aside for a Hawaiian shirt and joined Adriana for another dance to Jimmy Buffett’s “One Particular Harbor.”

Hank and Michael kept the fun going as they sang “Mannish Boy” by Muddy Waters together.

The “sweet” reception included Gannon’s Isle homemade ice cream bar to give a good boost and sugar rush for some dancing and fun with glow sticks on the dance floor.

I had a blast sharing this special day with Adriana and Michael, and wish them a happy marriage. I hope it’s filled with as much love and fun as you awesome wedding day!
